What is a Full Cord of Firewood?
A full cord of firewood is a standard volume measurement for stacked wood. One full cord equals approximately 128 stacked cubic feet. At Fairwood Firewood, we supply a full cord across three skids of seasoned, 14-inch split hardwood.
The weight varies by wood species and moisture content, but a seasoned hardwood full cord typically weighs between 3,000 and 5,000 lb. This gives you a substantial supply for regular fires, cottage use, or stocking up for the season.
How Much Does a Full Cord of Firewood Cost in Ontario?
The price of a full cord of firewood in Ontario depends on the hardwood mix, seasoning and drying time, log length, whether the wood is supplied loose or organized on skids, and delivery distance.
As a general guide, seasoned mixed hardwood costs around $500 to $600 per full cord before delivery and HST.
Face Cord vs. Full Cord
A face cord and a full cord both measure 4 feet high by 8 feet long, but they contain different amounts of firewood because of the stack depth.
At Fairwood Firewood, one face cord is supplied on a single skid of 14-inch split hardwood. A full cord includes three skids – equivalent to about three face cords – making it a better choice for frequent fires, cottage use, wood stoves, or seasonal supply.
| Firewood Quantity | Fairwood Format | Approximate Volume | Best For |
| Face cord | 1 skid | 37.3 cubic feet | Occasional fires and smaller storage areas |
| Full cord | 3 skids | 128 cubic feet | Regular use, cottages, wood stoves, and seasonal supply |
